September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month and a great opportunity to remind members of your community all the benefits that come with holding a library card. To help you get the word out I have links to materials provided by the ALA, some fun memes, a toolkit of images that you can customize and share and blog posts containing some creative ideas.

Summer Library Program Toolkit

In this toolkit you will find a variety of templates to help you promote your summer library programs and events. Each image links to an editable template in Canva that you can customize to your needs. These templates use the graphics and color palette from the CSLP Tails and Tales campaign. Each template has placeholder images and text that you can change.

I have put together a media kit that contains images, video links and other resources you can use in emails, social media posts and your website. I will plan on adding to this page as new resources are created or found.

Library Marketing and Communications Conference 2019

I had the opportunity to attend the 5th annual Library Marketing and Communications Conference in St. Louis last week. This conference came highly recommended by members of the statewide marketing cohort I belong to, and they were right. This was one of the most informative, enriching and engaging conferences I have had the privilege to attend in my professional career.

Branding and Style Guides

Here’s a quick test. Think about the most recognizable brands that come to mind. What is it about these brands that make them stick in your brain? Is it the colors? The message or tagline? The logo? The most memorable brands have achieved that status by having a defined look that is a cohesive blend of color, fonts, logo, messaging and images. It’s that repetition and adherence to their “look” that make these brands easy to spot a mile away.

January/February Marketing Update

NaNoWriMo and Self-Publishing

During the month of November tens of thousands of people around the world will participate in NaNoWriMo. The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30th. NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month, is a fun, supportive event that encourages people to achieve their creative goals and find their voice. Last year 402,142 participants from all walks of life tackled the challenge and came away novelists.
